Cultivation and Care
- Position: Thrives in partial shade or dappled sun, and in positions that offer shelter from strong winds.
- Planting: Plant the tubers in early spring (February onwards indoors, May outdoors after frost) with the hollow side facing upwards, about 10-15cm deep.
- Soil: Prefers moist but well-drained, fertile soil.
- Maintenance: Requires regular watering, ensuring consistent moisture without waterlogging the tubers. Staking is not usually necessary due to its compact and trailing habit.
- Overwintering: The tubers are tender and must be lifted in autumn and stored in a cool, dry, and frost-free location over winter.
